Routes and mileage

Every mile you drive between clients is part of running your business, and the ones you never write down are the ones you can’t account for later. Portal → Routes & Mileage keeps the log, does the math, and hands your tax preparer a file they can actually use. Included from the Starter plan.

Press Log a trip and fill in the date, a label (“Tuesday route, 4 stops”), and the miles. From and to are optional but worth adding. They’re what makes a log look credible years later.

Each trip is either a Route (a day’s appointments) or Manual (a supply run, a networking coffee, a drop at the lab). Both count; the tag just keeps your log readable.

The panel shows your business miles year to date and an estimated deduction using a standard per-mile rate. Confirm the current rate with your tax preparer. The figure here is a convenience, not tax advice.

Today’s route builds itself from your confirmed appointments for the day, in time order, with each client’s address. Open it as a ready-made drive order in your maps app, drive it, then press Log this route’s miles. The trip form comes back pre-filled with the right label and type, and you just add the miles.

This is why it pays to keep your booking calendar current: the drive order is only as good as the appointments behind it. See Booking calendar.

Export for taxes downloads your whole log as a spreadsheet file: date, description, from, to, miles, type, rate, and deduction per line, with totals at the bottom. Send it to your preparer as-is, or open it yourself.

Trips are yours to edit or delete at any time, and the totals update immediately.
